Pōhinahina 3" Pocket Shorts
MEA KANU: plants, crops. Plants can also be referred to as lāʻau, mea ulu, lau nahele depending on context. MEA KANU Collection was inspired by plants native to Hawaiʻi, in response to the glaring reality that we need to protect our ʻāina from devastating natural disasters. The plant and animal species native to Hawaiʻi are best suited for Hawaiʻi’s unique environment. Plants of the forest were crucial to our watershed and absorbed heavy amounts of rainfall, preventing flooding and erosion. Plants of the plains were drought and fire resistant, and many also prevented erosion. We encourage our community to weed out invasive species and plant more native plants to help preserve and support our delicate ecosystem in our islands.
